I, Frankenstein - Movie Review

wow this is my first review since july last year! no wonder this blog gets no traffic lol. any who on with the review (that rhymes).

So you have to know two things about me before you read the rest of this review.
number one: I think Aaron Eckhart is the man (no homo)
and two: I generally dig monster movies.

Having established that I can now say that I really liked this movie a lot! a lot, a lot.
There is just enough story to make it not completely brain dead and the cgi is mostly good but what makes it better than the sum of those parts is Aaron Eckhart.

Although Mr Eckhart is not a big guy he is very convincing as a kinda wirery, hard assed version of the I, Frankenstein Monster.

I also liked the mythology of this version of the Frankenstein story. I have to admit that I havn't read the I, Frankenstein graphic novel that this movie was based on but I am fairly certain that this is the only version of the Frankenstein story that includes Gargoyles and Demons.

One of my favorite Monster movies is Underworld. Kevin Grevioux is the co writer of Underworld and both the writer of the I, Frankenstein novel and one of the main characters in the movie.

I'm kinda over Bill Nighy but he is actually pretty good in this movie as well.

Over all this movie is not going to make you have to think too hard...but if you liked Underworld or Van Helsing I think you might like it. In-fact I'm sure you will like it more than the 4% rotten tomatoes gives it.

Go and see it on the big screen and just enjoy it for what it is!

I always take a screen shot of movies I review if I watch them at home. The frame I captured is almost identical to a frame that they have used as one of the promo shots. I have a good eye I guess lol.
This is the screen shot I took
This is the frame the studio is using as a promo shot...

Dark Skies Movie Review

I have an interesting story about scary movies, it goes a little something like this:
I didnt watch many movies or even TV for that matter when I was a child, infact I was well into my teens before I started to really get into movies and going to the cinema.
As a result I had never seen a scary movie in the 80s and as they went out of fashion till Scream was released I had made it to my young adult life having never seen even the slightest scary movie...let alone a full on Horror.
This left me very easy to spook and without a word of a lie I actually had to walk out of Scream twice in the same screening.

Fast and Furious 5 Review. Aka: why did you suck so bad?

Re-post from May 2011. I wanted to post this here again before I did a review for the new movie.
Let me say this right of the bat: I’m a big fan of both the fast and furious franchise and Vin Diesel in general.

Having said that I thought the latest offering from the F&F team was super wack!

So why was it so bad?.....well it actually wasn’t.

Bullet to the Head - 2012

I am in the process of watching Bullet to the Head 2012. Why do I ad the 2012? Well Im making sure you dont confuse this POS with the John Woo classic of the same name from 1990.

I like Stallone alot but wow this is not a good movie!

Wassup Rockers

 repost - originally from 2010

2005 movie from Larry Clark the maker of "Kids".

Its about some Latino skater kids in from the Bronx and their life over a couple of days.

there's a couple of things about this movie that I find kinda strange:
- why do so many people die in this movie
- the second half of this pic is basically "The Warriors" for the new millennium.
- whats Larry Clark's connection to skateboarding? I tried to google some info about it but couldn't find anything.

I like every movie Ive seen of Larry Clark's and this is no exception.

Bodyguard - A New Beginning

repost - originally from 2010
Do not watch this movie.

seriously don't do it....I am actually watching it right now and I don't know why. Even the fight scenes are terrible. and the music it so ott.....the whole thing has been drowning in a overbearing score.

Iron Man

Another of my old reviews, originally from 2008

Thought I'd kick off my reviews blog with what I think is the coolest movie of 2008...Iron Man.

So here's the thing: I like comics but don't think much of super hero movies. There are a few exceptions to that rule, namely: Batman Begins, the Crow, Blade (don't mention the sequels) and I actually really liked Electra (I know I'm gonna get flamed for that one).

I wasn't expecting great things from Iron Man.
Here's why: Jon Favreau is a great director but how cheesy would a swingers style superhero movie be? and Robert Downey Jr is a great actor but Stark is meant to be a super brain hard ass, I actually thought Robert would be too cool for the role.
